The 2018 PGA Champion moves from the Midwest to the East Coast to try to reclaim the Wanamaker Trophy. The 29-year-old three-time major champion nearly won his first green jacket when he finished T2 at Augusta.

In his only individual start since the Masters, Koepka finished solo fourth last week at the Byron Nelson and three off the winning pace. He closed with a bogey free 65 and is not too fazed by coming up short at Trinity Forest, which isn’t a great comp to Bethpage.

Koepka and his brother, Chase, finished T22 together at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

“Sometimes you can just get beat. That happened this week,” Koepka said in North Carolina. “I feel like I’m striking it really well, putting it really well, especially the putts coming down the stretch. Nice to see some kind of, something on the line. It was important going into next week.”

Koepka went 16 deep to win the 2018 PGA at Bellerieve. Bethpage is a much tougher course, but both favor aerial golf.

Koepka’s made 11 of his last 12 worldwide cuts. He’s made 17 straight cuts in majors going back to 2013 with eight top-10s and six more top-25s.

He’s 31st in total strokes gained on the PGA Tour and 14th in driving distance. Koepka is 22nd in proximity from the rough and second from 175-200 yards.

Many prognosticators wondered what type of season Koepka was in for after his big weight loss, but he appeared in fine health at Augusta and again in Texas last week.
