It’s hard to believe DJ still just has his one major at the 2016 U.S. Open. This former U.S. Open venue this week seems like a logical site to pick up number two.

His history at Bethpage Black shows a T40 at the 2009 U.S. Open (72-69-76-72), T3 at the 2012 Barclays (67-71-72-68) and T18 at the 2016 Barclays (70-72-67-73).

Johnson has won twice in 11 worldwide starts in 2019 at the Saudi International and the WGC-Mexico Championship. He quietly finished T2 at the Masters and has rested since posting a T28 the week after.

He’s an elite bomb and gouge player who can bolster a DFS lineup even when he doesn’t pack his ‘A’ game. DJ has made 12 straight cuts.

In majors, he’s got 10 top-10s in his last six 17 starts.

Johnson is second on Tour in overall strokes gained and is 45th or better in each SG category. The 34-year-old is known for his prowess off the tee, and rightly so (11th SG), but he’s having one of his best putting seasons to date at fifth SG.

He’s also 15th in scrambling and third in sand saves.

All the rain once forecasted for the tournament may have played into DJ’s hands, but cool temperatures and some previous moisture from recent weeks could soften things up for him.
