The PGA Championship is back at Bethpage Black for the third time since 2002, the other being 2009. Tiger Woods has had success there in the past. I wanted to examine just how much success he has had, and how well he has played there.

For someone like me, it seems so long ago that Tiger Woods won the U.S. Open at Bethpage Black. It was back in 2002, and I was only 14 years old. As with many people, that run of Tiger Woods is the reason we pay attention to and play golf.

Next, it was the 2009 U.S. Open. Tiger wasn’t able to recreate his success of 2002, and ended up tied for 6th.

The last time he played there was back in 2012, during The Barclay’s. Things were going well for him, until an unfortunate shot left him grabbing his knee and lower back. Still the stubborn Tiger Woods of yesteryear, he stayed in, and pulled his way to a T-38th place finish.

Tiger is the betting favorite this week, as is normally the case whenever he is at an event. Most of this is do to the public money that comes in on him. Unlike the last five years, Tiger deserves being at the top of the odds makers lists. He has been playing great golf, and is coming off a fantastic week of golf at Augusta that earned him his 15th major.

Although it was the most recent one, the 2012 Barclay’s is the one we will look at first. Let’s work backwards, and check out round-by-round how Tiger Woods has played at Bethpage Black.
