The 101st PGA Championship takes place this week at Bethpage Black. Rooting for the favorites is nice, but potentially nailing the right dark horse is even better.

With the run of first time winners that has been going on in the PGA lately, it isn’t hard to believe that it could continue. I love underdogs, and if any dark horse is able to take down the field and win the PGA Championship, it would make for an incredible story.

Taking a look at how I did last week, it was a mixed bag as normal. Thomas Pieters (50-1) finished T23, Trey Mullinax (80-1) missed the cut, Ollie Schniederjans (100-1) finished T69, Beau Hossler (125-1) finished T43, and Cody Gribble (200-1) missed the cut. Not my best week, but picking two guys of over 100-1 odds who made the cut is still a nice week.

With it being a major week, I need to bring my “A” game this week with my dark horse candidates. The players are focused, and so am I. The goal this week is to find a couple of names who can make a serious run, finish up near the top of the leaderboard, and to have all the picks make the cut.

Mike provided his power rankings, and Hans gave you his DFS picks. With only a day left before they start teeing off for this year’s PGA Championship, here are my dark horse picks for Bethpage Black. Again, anyone 45-1 or better is ineligible for the honor of being named a dark horse. Sorry Kuch, you’re the last cut of the 18 golfers at 45-1 or better.
