Xander Schauffele is one of the best young names in the game, and he’s still just seeing most courses for the second or maybe third time.

This is the second time around Muirfield Village for the X Man. He struggled with an opening 75 in his 2018 Memorial Tournament debut, but began to figure things out with a second-round 71. He missed the weekend only by one, so I like for him to have a better plan of attack this time.

He’s also coming off a missed cut last week at Colonial. Considering these aforementioned missed are only two of four since last May, I like him to bounce back.

Schauffele’s 2019 resume includes a win at the Tournament of Champions, T2 at the Masters and eight total top-25s. He looked great at the PGA Championship until a Sunday 76 cost what would have been his fifth top-10 in nine major starts. That’s pretty staggering for a 25-year-old.

The Californian is 13th in total strokes gained and 56th or better in each category. He’s a chameleon for any course with power to win most weeks on Tour. He’s 25th in driving distance and 146th in driving accuracy, so he’ll be eager to hit into Muirfield’s generous fairways.

Schauffele ranks 18th in approaches from 175-200 and is top-20 in par-4 and par-5 scoring.
