Rickie Fowler ought to feel like he’s ready to pick this tournament off at some point. He was solo runner up as a debutant in 2010 and was T2 in 2017. He followed up with T8 last year and his last eight rounds at Muirfield Village are: 70-66-72-70, 72-69-68-68.

Fowler is 14th this season in strokes gained putting and had a decent showing on the greens last year at the Memorial, gaining .496 strokes per round. He also hit 72.22% GIR and 75% fairways for the week.

"“There’s a lot of movement on the greens,” Fowler said in 2017. “You get a lot of putts with a decent amount of break, which is more so than normal. And you get some Augusta similarities, in a way. But I would say that’s the biggest thing is just the amount of movement and how precise you have to be with line and speed.”"

Fowler is coming off his first missed cut of the season last week at Colonial. That’s the only blip in a calendar year featuring a win at the Phoenix Open, T2 at the Honda Classic, T9 at the Masters and T4 at Wells Fargo.

He’s been one of the Tour’s more consistent players, per usual, and is 15th in total strokes gained. He ranks 14th in approach from 175-200 yards. He’s also fifth in par-4 scoring.
