Joel Dahmen – 100/1

As of a month or so ago, Dahman launched up my personal rankings for favorite golfers. While coaching at a statewide tournament for top high school golfers, I found out that Dahmen was from Washington (Clarkston, WA). He actually won the Egbers Memorial tournament twice, back-to-back in 2005 and 2006.

Being able to root for a local guy, who is from the same graduating class as me is pretty cool. The fact that he is an incredible golfer sure helps though.

This is going to be Joel Dahmen’s first trip to The Memorial. If he can handle the fanfare, the crowds, the strength of the field, and the fact that Jack is there, he should be alright. It’s not asking that much.

His best result of this year actually came just a few weeks ago, at the Wells Fargo. After a blistering start of 66-66, he cooled off a bit on the weekend. After a 70-70, he still managed to get second place.

That was the closest he has gotten to winning a PGA event in his career. Why not continue the run of first time winners? Dahmen fits all my criteria for being a strong candidate as one the the dark horses who is bound to make a run on Sunday. Let’s have it be the Memorial.
