Not only is Henrik Stenson making his debut at Hamilton, but also at the Canadian Open. The tournament’s former slot on the schedule never jived with the Swede, but now he’s here looking to get it going heading into Pebble Beach.

The 43-year-old hasn’t been in the mix for many titles in 2019, but he’s not far off the scent. After four missed cuts in his first six starts, Stenson’s made seven weekends in a row and has been T48 or better each time.

Stenson advanced to the knockout stage of the WGC-Match Play and made the cut at both majors. He recently posted a T20 at the Byron Nelson and had three rounds under par en route to a T35 last week at the Memorial.

He and Graeme McDowell finished T18 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Stenson is seventh on Tour in driving accuracy and will be just fine mashing his 3-wood at a short track like Hamilton.

He ranks 24th in strokes gained tee to green and is first in strokes gained on approach.

With most of the field seeing these greens for the first or second (even third for those around in 2006) time, perhaps Stenson’s putting woes will be mitigated this week.

This will be his fifth week in a row teeing it up, something he hasn’t done in quite some time.
