Bubba Watson is a picky player in that there are some events he seems to love and thrive at, while others he’ll annually skip or seem to not have his best at.

Watson has had a soft spot for Canada as his wife is from Pickering, Ontario. He’s also been spotted at the first two games of the NBA Finals, supporting the Toronto Raptors as they split a pair of games with the Golden State Warriors.

He’s played well at the Canadian Open before, including finishing runner up by one shot to Jason Day in 2015 at Glen Abbey.

Watson comes into the week well rested after taking the last two weeks off and missing the cut at the PGA Championship.

That MC was his first since the Sony Open in January, snapping a streak of six in a row. That span includes a pair of T4 finishes at the Phoenix Open and Valspar Championship as well as T12 at the Masters.

Watson is having a prototypical year stats wise. He’s 36th in total strokes gained with his marks off the tee (second) and tee to green (14th) doing the heavy lifting.

He’s only 91st in strokes gained around the green but his short game isn’t bad when he’s on, and 26th in scrambling is solid.

Fewer trees on the course should help his driving accuracy and give him more room to bend and twist the ball to his liking.

This will be Watson’s first time playing Hamilton.
