Scott Piercy has sneakily had a solid 2018-19 PGA Tour season, and particularly impressive over the past several weeks..

The 40-year-old has four top-20s in his last five events counting a T13 with Billy Horschel at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He was T3 at the RBC Heritage ad T2 at the RBC Heritage as he’s closing in on his first Tour win since 2015 and fourth of his career.

Piercy also posted T41 at the PGA Championship and enters this week rested after a week off following T19 at Colonial.

He earns his way onto this week’s top ten also because he won at Hamilton in 2012.

Going into that week he caught a little bit of ire saying it would require “boring golf” to win. It was mostly in good fun and he was plenty excited when he fired 62-67-67-67 to beat Robert Garrigus and William McGirt by one at 17-under.

"“You know, that was taken a little out of context,” Piercy said after his win. “I usually hit the ball pretty far with the driver.  I like to hit driver a lot, and this golf course I felt took the driver out of my hands.  So it’s a mentality a little bit.  I did say, however, that at the end of the week if the score is good, it is exciting.  So I’m pretty excited.  I hope everybody didn’t take that too much the wrong way.”"

He’s 30th in total strokes gained and is a positive in all categories. Piercy has long made his money with his ball striking, and that’s the case again this season. He’s 21st in driving accuracy and eighth in greens in regulation percentage.

Piercy is third in par-3 scoring and fourth on par-4s. He’s also 28th in scrambling.

Piercy is a streaky player and can be held back by the putter, but I like the form he’s been on and the good vibes he’ll have from the last time the Canadian Open came to Hamilton.
