Fantasy Golf: DraftKings Selections for the 2019 U.S. Open

Webb Simpson (7,700)
The 2018 Players Champion, Webb Simpson has been known as one of the most consistent performers on the PGA Tour. Having stated that, no golf fan out there would classify Webb as an elite golfer. I agree with that. However, Simpson has been showing signs recently that maybe he can move a little closer to elite status.
Webb finished 29th at the PGA Championship earlier this year. Simpson is not a long hitter of the golf ball. For him to finish in the top 30 on a brutally long track at the PGA was extremely impressive. Additionally, Simpson finished 5th at the 2019 Masters.
Additional quality results for Simpson this year are: 3rd at the RSM Classic in November, a tie for 8th at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January, a tie for 16th at the RBC Heritage in April, and a second place at the RBC Canadian Open last week.
Simpson ranks second on the PGA Tour in scrambling. Webb also is 12th on Tour in overall strokes gained around the green in 2019.
He also has some impressive statistics when it comes to his tee to green play. Key statistics regarding his tee to green play that popped off the page for me are the following: Simpson is 18th in overall strokes gained tee to green and 20th in overall strokes gained on approach on Tour this year.
I think Webb’s outstanding short game, ball striking, and overall mental strength as a golfer will lead him to play very well this week.
From a Draftkings lineup construction perspective, I think that Webb presents outstanding value at $7,700. I think he is a steal at that price.
