Paul Casey is humming along with a solid 2019. The Englishman defended his Valspar Championship title in March and has nine worldwide top-25’s including two runners up.

Casey fired the second lowest final round score (67) on Sunday to climb to T-21 at the U.S. Open.

The 41-year-old debuted at the Travelers Championship in 2015. He’s proven to be a quick learner. Casey carded 67-68-64-65 to reach 16-under and lost in a playoff to Bubba Watson.

He followed up with T-17 in 2016 (68-67-66-71), T-5 in 2017 (68-68-66-69) and was the 54-hole leader last year en route to T-2 (65-67-62-72). Casey hit all 18 greens in his Saturday 62.

"“…it’s a golf course which is open to all styles of play, having seen that with Bubba Watson, Corey Pavin playoff. Jim Furyk shooting 58, not the longest guy on Tour,” Casey said in 2018. “Yeah, multiple ways of playing it. Good architecture, fantastic conditions, plus just a feeling of liking this event. You know this event where it sits in players’ kind of heart as their enjoyment of it. That’s just another factor of playing well.” Next: U.S. Open: Can Gary Woodland keep rolling on Tour?"

Casey is going to have a lot of birdie chances (8th strokes gained tee to green). He’s also improved from 68th last season in SG around the green to 50th. I like him to roll in just enough the greens to get it done this week.
