I’m about to turn a negative into a positive: Tony Finau enters the Travelers Championship coming off of two straight missed cuts. Not great, right?

Yes, but when you consider it’s the first time he’s MC’d consecutively since 2016, you realize the high level of consistency Finau has played with.

It’s why I like him to bounce back after striking out at the Memorial and U.S. Open.

TPC River Highlands isn’t a bad place to start. Finau debuted with a T-25 in 2015, duplicated it in 2016 and was T-17 in 2017. He hasn’t recorded a round over par and is a cumulative 20-under in 12 rounds: 68-69-66-70, 69-68-69-67, 70-67-70-67.

Finau is a birdie-making machine, so he’s bound to break 66 sooner or later around here.

Plus, right before Finau’s two MC’s was a solo second at Colonial. He also was in the final group at the Masters where he finished T-5.

Finau ranks 29th in strokes gained off the tee and is 59th in approach. His distance isn’t quite the advantage this week as it is in some, but he’ll benefit from likely hitting more fairways than he’s accustomed.
