Another week, another high finish in a major. King Louis is a diet version of Brooks Koepka in that he seems to dial it up best at the big events.

He of the career Grand Slam of runner-up finishes racked up his seventh top-10 in a major by posting T-7 last week at Pebble Beach. Oosthuizen caught fire on the front nine Sunday to get in the mix, but couldn’t keep it going late.

“I have to take a lot of positives out of this week. I played well,” Oosthuizen said Sunday. “I put myself in — I played well enough to win this event, and that’s where you want to be in a major. Now I’m looking forward to the next one at The Open.”

Oosthuizen has made six cuts in a row. That span encompasses a T-2 at the Valspar Championship and a quarterfinals berth in the WGC-Match Play.

The South African still doesn’t have a regular PGA Tour win, but he’s won several European Tour events in the interim. The last was in December at the South African Open.

He’s making his fourth start at the Travelers Championship. Oosthuizen’s best result was a T-17 in his last trip in 2016.

The 36-year-old is 58th on Tour in strokes gained tee to green and has elevated in bigger events. He also ranks 15th in sand saves and 30th in par-4 scoring.
