Travelers Championship: Power rankings at TPC River Highlands
The Travelers Championship has developed a reputation as one of the budding Tour stops. It’s been able to cast a broader net for talent to come out to Connecticut in a traditionally tough spot on the schedule. Now under the red umbrella is the Englishman Fleetwood who will be one of the fan favorites.
Fleetwood still seeks his first win on American soil. The 28-year-old’s got a solid statistical profile and recent finishes to insinuate his time may be coming soon.
Fleetwood ranks 17th on Tour in total strokes gained thanks largely to his ball striking prowess. He’s ninth in SG off the tee and 12th tee to green.
He’s also got a solid short game and is fifth in sand save percentage, which can be a handy stat on a Dye course. Fleetwood separates himself with his long irons, but he’ll be able to flip wedges into a lot of greens with his proficiency off the tee.
Fleetwood has made 19 straight cuts worldwide. He’s got three top-10’s in 2019 led by a T-3 at Bay Hill. He comes into the Travelers rested with last week’s T-65 at the U.S. Open his only start since the PGA Championship in May.
Fleetwood has done well on Dye courses this year with a T-5 at the Players and second place with Sergio Garcia at the Zurich Classic.
