Travelers Championship: Power rankings at TPC River Highlands
Francesco Molinari is set to make his third Travelers Championship start, but it’s his first since ascending to become one of the world’s best.
The Italian made both cuts, finishing T-25 in 2015 and T-46 in 2016.
He’s obviously since won the 2018 Open Championship with more high finishes in majors and a Ryder Cup to boot. Molinari won this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational and has three top-10’s in just 10 starts.
He’s coming off a steady T-16 last week at the U.S. Open (68-72-71-70). Molinari should be fairly rested since he’s only teed it up four times since contending at the Masters in April.
Molinari has been solid statistically with all strokes gained numbers in the positive. He’s not quite at the elite level ball striking of 2018, but he’s found ways to post low scores.despite it.
Molinari is second on Tour in sand saves and 14th in scrambling.
This was about the time of the year when Frankie heated up to end his summer in style last year. TPC River Highlands seems like a good set up for him to get rolling.
