It’s time to take a slight tangent from covering the events on the PGA Tour. What about golf events that many more of us can relate to? Let’s dive in and explore the world of member-guest season.

The Member-Guest Menagerie

We are in the middle of that glorious golf window known as Member-Guest season. Standing on the putting green waiting for the shotgun start is a particular joy. It’s a parade of golfing humanity – heroes, villains and everything in-between. All marching around, secure in their thoughts of victory.

Every club has its own vibe. Some are relaxed, others are stodgy. Regardless, like nature itself, each club has apex predators, defenseless rodents, and old growth plant-life that does little more than provide a backdrop to the toils of daily survival.

It is said golf reveals character. If so, the Member-Guest is one giant chaise lounger, inviting all the different club animals in the menagerie to lie down and reveal themselves. They are wild and they vary. Some strut around for all to see, while others lurk in corners avoiding all possible contact.

Here are some characters you are likely to encounter on your weekend journey – The Peacock, The Sandbagger, The Club Jerk, The Visiting Member, and the Non-Golfer.
