Chez Reavie proved contending at the U.S. Open was no fluke. The grizzled veteran picked up his second Tour win, with the first coming in 2008, last week at the Travelers Championship.

Reavie is one of the Tour’s shortest hitters (157th driving distance), but TPC River Highlands was a great venue for him. He averaged just 279.3 yards off the tee but was able to hit 83.93% fairways and 75% greens in regulation while gaining 1.231 strokes on the field putting.

"“Yeah, you know, going and being in the second to the last group at the U.S. Open last week, that definitely gave me a lot of confidence coming into this week, and in particular into today,” Reavie said Sunday. “I played really well on Sunday at the U.S. Open, and I tried to treat this the same as I did then.”"

Reavie had his best finish in a major at the U.S. Open (T3) and his recent play is a continuation of some other solid finishes this spring and summer. He was T28 at the RBC Heritage, T18 at the Wells Fargo and T14 at the PGA.

Earlier in the year, the former Arizona State Sun Devil finished T4 at the Phoenix Open.

Reavie is first on Tour in driving accuracy (75.13%) and 24th tee to green. He’s got positive strokes gained stats across the board and should be able to handle Detroit Golf Club despite his lack of length.

I’m always a little dubious of picking a player who’s won the week before as it can burn a lot of energy, but Reavie seems steady enough to keep playing well this week.
