3M Open: Power ranking the top 10 at TPC Twin Cities

Tony Finau has been struggling a bit over the past few months, and he’s missed three straight cuts coming into this week in Minnesota. It’s concerning, but I’m not ready to hit the panic button. Finau did post a solo runner up at Colonial before this streak began and was in contention at the Masters (T5).

He has five total top-25’s in 2019.

If TPC Twin Cities plays at a long 7,500 yards (and it almost certainly will with soaking rains coming through much of the week), I like Finau to separate from most of the field if he’s playing well. He ranks sixth in driving distance and 32nd in strokes gained off the tee.

He’s also steady (if not spectacular) in strokes gained approach and putting.

The knock on Finau has been his inabilty to close out a win. His 2016 Puerto Rico Open victory remains his only.

I think that could change this week against a relatively weak field where some of the big names are more focused on Royal Portrush coming up. Finau just needs to find some good form and this type of wet course sets up well for him.
