Dark Horse candidates for 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities
Adam Hadwin – 50/1
Adam Hadwin is looking to get back into the swing of the things after missing the cut in the Travelers two weeks ago. The tournament he played in previously, the RBC Canadian Open, earned Hadwin a top 10 finish. He shot 65-66-67-70, with Sunday not quite going well enough to get him into the top five.
He has been in the top five twice this year, although one of them doesn’t count in the PGA official rankings, as it was the ISPS Handa Melbourne World Cup of Golf, where he finished T-4th.
His lone top five finish came at the Desert Classic, where he managed to T-2nd with Phil Mickelson. He shot incredibly consistent all week, putting up a line of 65-66-65-67.
For Hadwin to get back into the top 10 and make a dark horse run on Sunday, he is going to need to be better on his approach and around the green shots. He currently ranks 128th and 157th, respectively.
He has done great off the tee this year though, continuing to put himself in good positions. He ranks 28th in SG off the tee this year, finding the fairway just over 67% of the time.
If Hadwin can find a little better stroke out of the fairway, his driving should put him in good positions to score all weekend.
