Matthew Wolff 3M Open PGA TOUR

The future is here. Matthew Wolff and his unique swing got to the winner’s circle in just his fourth career PGA Tour start last week at the 3M Open.

The can’t miss 20-year-old was the best college golfer this past season and won the NCAA individual championship by five shots.

Prior to the 3M, Wolff made two of three cuts with a T-50 at the Phoenix Open and T-80 at the Travelers Championship. He bounced back from a missed cut last week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic to show the world his full potential.

Wolff was used to winning college events running away, but he showed his mettle by sinking a lengthy eagle putt to win on the 72nd hole in Minnesota.

"“I’ve been told so many times before that I was born for moments like these, I live for moments like these,” Wolff said. “It doesn’t get better than this. I had a blast out there, and to make that putt was everything.”"

Wolff’s swing speed is phenomenal and his accuracy is, too. He was near the top of the pack last week in strokes gained approach.

The big concern picking for this week is does Wolff have enough left in the tank? This will be his fourth week in a row teeing it up.

It’s still worthwhile for Wolff to come to the Quad Cities because this is his last chance to try to get into the Open Championship field. For whatever reason, the 3M Open wasn’t a part of the Open Qualifying Series, so he’ll look to go back-to-back and sneak into Royal Portrush.
