Lost in the shuffle of Matt Wolff’s big win last week was the effort of Wolff’s former college teammate at Oklahoma State.

The 2018 U.S. Amateur champ Viktor Hovland fired 69-66-69-65 to finish T-13 at the 3M Open in his third PGA Tour start as a pro and eighth in his career.

The Norwegian also finished T-13 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic a couple weeks ago, was T-54 at the Travelers the week prior and went T’32 & T-12 at the Masters and U.S. Open.

Hovland was pouring it out at TPC Twin Cities at over 80% GIR and fairways hit. Like so many young players out there, they can hit the ball as well as any. Now it’s down to figuring things out on the greens.

This will be Hovland’s first time at TPC Deere Run. It’s also his fourth week playing in a row, so hopefully he still has some gas left in the tank.

It’s still an important week for him, though, as he’s trying to earn his way into the Open Championship next week. It also could be his last PGA Tour start until the Korn Ferry Tour finals this fall, so he’ll look to make the most of it.
