Well, believe it or not, the last major of the year is upon us! The 148th British Open arrives in Northern Ireland for the first time since 1951, and it’s time for some DraftKings selections.
This week, DFS players will be presented with one of the most elite fields of the year. Due to this fact, it likely will not be an easy task composing winning lineups for DraftKings contests.
The final major of 2019 will be played at Royal Portrush Golf Club. Royal Portrush is a coastal links-style golf course which is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,337 yards.
Unfortunately, we don’t have the luxury of consistent course history to review this week. The only data that one can review is the 2012 edition of the Irish Open which was played at Royal Portrush.
I took a quick look at the results from that event. I observed that Jamie Donaldson won that event. No, I won’t be placing Mr. Donaldson in any of my Draftkings lineups. I know this event was 7 years ago as well. However, it is nice to see which golfers in this week’s field have played Royal Portrush in competitive conditions. Yes, I do think that is a slight advantage.
Evaluating specific skills you want to see in a player, I think you want to find golfers for your Draftkings lineups that excel in windy conditions and quite simply have quality results on coastal links-style golf courses. I don’t see a need to complicate things this week.
Let’s get to what I love doing the most! My Draftkings Selections for the 2019 British Open!
