Phil Mickelson

Lefty made news before the British Open by letting it be known that he had gone on a little fast, in order to get himself back in check. Phil Mickelson hadn’t been feeling good about the way that he had been playing and wanted a reset.

He put himself on a fast and ended up losing 15 pounds. All that he consumed was a special coffee blend for wellness. All year Phil has been trying to reinvent and find his game once again. The 49-year-old is near the end of his career, and he was looking for something a little different in advance of the trip to Royal Portrush.

Showing up to Northern Ireland, Phil definitely looked a little slimmer. Unfortunately for him, his weight went down, by his scores went up.

Phil carded seven bogeys during his first round, and after finding two birdies would post a 76.

At only five over, Phil definitely had a chance to make the cut if he could put together a good round.

Phil would finish with a 74, and was up and down all-round, mostly on the front nine. He would post two birdies, three bogeys, and a double on the front, and then exchange one birdie and one bogey on the back nine.
