Jon Rahm is playing as well as anyone in the world right now. He was never quite able to vault into contention last week at the British Open, but a T-11 is nothing to be ashamed of.

It says something when that’s your worst result in a month, too. The rising Spaniard was T-3 at the U.S. Open, T-2 in his home country at the Andalucia Masters (a tight course that doesn’t fit his game well) and a win at the Irish Open.

Mix in a tie for ninth at the Masters, and it was a solid major season for Rahm. One of these days, you have to figure he’s going to go on an absolute tear, it just wasn’t meant to be in 2019.

Two back-to-back cuts in May are the only times he’s failed to crack the top 50 going back to September.

Rahm should be able to bruise his way around TPC Southwind and ranks fourth in strokes gained off the tee. He’s a positive in all strokes gained categories, and he’s easily one of the Tour’s best long iron hitters.

If Rahm can learn these Bermuda greens seeing them for the first time, I like him to contend for his first PGA Tour victory of 2019 at the WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
