WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational: Power ranking the top 10 at TPC Southwind
Now that the major championship season is over, it feels even more dubious picking Koepka in a non-major. He admitted before the British Open that in non-majors, when you see him play on TV is when he’s playing golf.
He’s missed the top 50 in seven of his last eight non-majors, so this week is a little tougher to figure out, especially coming off of Sunday’s grind.
After contending for 54 holes at Royal Portrush last week en route to a T-4 finish, he’ll likely take another light week of prep for TPC Southwind. Fortunately, he has as much course history as anyone in the field.
He usually likes to play the week before majors and the FedEx St. Jude Classic was annually the week before the U.S. Open. Koepka’s played here every year since 2014 with results of T19-T3-T2-T37-T30.
He fired three rounds in the 60s last year in Memphis. A closing 73 is one of few hiccups at this course.
BK ranks 13th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained approach and is 11th tee to green. He’s eighth in proximity from the fairway and eighth in greens in regulation.
It has truly been a spectacular 2018-19 for Brooks Koepka regardless how the playoffs shake out. He started off with a win at the CJ Cup in the fall and went T2-1-2-T4. Koepka just needs to come in wanting it to be a strong contender at the WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
