Memphis must be one of the few PGA Tour stops the veteran Englishman hasn’t hit. Until now.

He’s among the favorites this week at TPC Southwind in large part to his all-around game. Rose is sixth on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained and is 73rd or better in all categories.

The Englishman is having an elite putting season at fifth in strokes gained and first in putts per round at 27.65.

Rose missed the cut at the Masters before closing his major season in good form: T29 at the PGA, T3 at the U.S. Open and T20 at the British Open.

He was solid, if not spectacular last week at Royal Portrush, hitting just under 60% fairways and greens. He wasn’t quite able to be the magician around the greens like he was at Pebble Beach.

Rose is a winner this year at the Farmers Insurance Open and has made 10 of 12 cuts on the PGA Tour in 2019. He has five top-10s and it feels like he ought to have another win or two under his belt.

The 38-year-old has kept it light this year, having only played 13 events. He took off the entire four-week stretch between the U.S. Open and British Open. I think this bodes well for a high finish this week and a deep playoffs run.
