Chez Reavie – 55/1

When you look at the last eight tournaments that Chez Reavie has played in, there have only been two outcomes.

T-18th, T-18th, T-14th, CUT, T-3rd, 1st, CUT, CUT

He either finishes in the top 20 or will miss the cut. Heading into the St. Jude, I think Reavie falls more in line with the top 20 finish. He hasn’t missed three cuts in a row all year. Most of the time he ends up playing pretty good golf.

For those of you who are a fan of accurate drivers of the golf ball, Reavie is definitely your pick. He ranks 2nd on the PGA Tour this year, hitting 74.93% of them. On a shorter course, especially one that is only a par 70, accuracy is always a premium.

He should see plenty of scoring opportunities as well in Memphis. Ranking 21st in SG on approach shots, he finds plenty of fairways and then plays well into the green. How well he scores will depend on his putting, which is still above average ranking 60th on tour in SG.

Reavie won’t be able to cut this course down the way the big hitters will. I see his accuracy making more of a difference, garnering him the top spot in this week’s dark horse picks.
