I wasn’t sure I’d see the day where Danny Willett would be back in one of my top-10 rankings. The Englishman sunk low after his 2016 Masters win. The expectations seemed too high to handle and he ventured outside the world top 100.

Willett recaptured the magic last winter by winning the DP World Tour Championship, the culminating event in the Europen Tour’s Race to Dubai.

He couldn’t translate that into a hot start in 2019 on the PGA Tour. Willett picked it up this summer at the PGA Championship with T-41. That was the first of five made cuts in his next six starts, a pretty nice run to help build momentum.

Willett posted top-10s in Canada and at the British Open. He’s got three top-12s in his last five starts.

This season on Tour, Willett ranks 37th in strokes gained approach and 46th in SG around the green. He’s first in proximity from 150-175 yards, which are very common approach distances out here. Accuracy off the tee is his bugaboo, but I think he can rein that in at Sedgefield. Plus, he’s 21st in proximity out of the rough if things go awry.

This will be Willett’s Wyndham Championship debut.
