Matthew Wolff isn’t the only young American phenom to win on the PGA Tour this year. After Wolff won the 3M Open over Collin Morikawa responded with a win last week at the Barracuda Championship.

Wolff still my have the upper hand in the Rookie of the Year race, but it’s no longer a foregone conclusion. With plenty of strong performances around the PGA this year, Wolff, Hovland, and Morikawa are making it an exciting stretch to watch.

Along with his win, Wolff also has three made cuts in four other PGA Tour starts. He played the weekend in 65-69 last week at the no-cut WGC event to climb to T-24. It was a good finish after starting 72-70.

Wolff doesn’t have enough logged rounds to qualify for PGA Tour statistical ranks. He would stack up well in strokes gained approach, around the green and tee to green.

His unorthodox swing generates enough power to average over 315 yards off the tee.

With a PGA Tour card secured for the next two years, the pressure is off and he’s squarely in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Wolff played Sedgefield in 2015 at an AJGA event.
