Brandt Snedeker has always played well at the Wyndham Championship. He vindicated his past success with getting his first win at the tournament in 2018.

Sneds shot 21-under (59-67-68-65) thanks in large part to the PGA Tour’s ninth 59 in history on Thursday.

One of the Tour’s more popular players got to celebrate it with the family.

"“This is the first time I think my kids are both old enough to remember this one,” Snedeker said after the win. “I’ve won before when they were there, but they were both babies. To have my first, to have it be here at Wyndham is special, to have my kids being here when they can understand what it means what daddy does for a living and be able to do it on 18. They’ve been telling me for two years they want to see a trophy, they want to hold a trophy and I’ve been failing them for two years. So it means the world to me that I have not failed them finally.”"

The 38-year-old has been playing good golf this summer with four top-20s since May. He took T-4 at the Canadian Open and T-5 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Last week at the WGC-St. Jude netted a T-27 where he closed in 66.

The Tennessean will look to start a new cuts made streak after seven in a row snapped at the British Open.

Having a good short game tends to help at Donald Ross courses. Snedeker is third on Tour in strokes gained around the green. He’s also 11th in SG putting.

With his course knowledge (five top-10s, 8/10 cuts) and affinity for this tournament, Snedeker can contend even with an average ball-striking week.
