Sepp Straka – 80/1 – 110th in FedEx Cup Rankings

As the season comes to an end, Straka is picking up his game at the perfect time. Don’t be fooled if you look at how he played at the Barracuda Championship. Seeing a score of +35 might seem disconcerting at first, but remember that it was a modified Stableford event, and his score was actually quite good, finishing in 12th place.

That followed a third-place finish at the Barbasol. He played great all week, shooting 68-68-63-66. When your worst two rounds of the week are both -4, you know that it was a good tournament.

Since a T-28th finish at the U.S. Open, he has added a T-11th and a T-26th to go along with the Barracuda and Barbasol finish.

One thing to remember about Straka is that this is his first year on Tour, and he actually hadn’t played a single event prior to 2019.

There are multiple proverbial carrots for Straka. A good finish this week will push him closer to $1 million in earnings for the year, earning him status again for the 2019-2020 season. Also, that strong finish would get him up near 70th in the FedEx rankings, making the chance at $1 million even better.

Straka is great off of both the tee and on approach shots. He ranks 33rd in SG off the tee, and 38th on approach shots. Straka gets the dark horse nod from me for a top ten finish and a little cushion during the first round of the FedEx playoff next week.
