Jon Rahm THE NORTHERN TRUST FedEx Cup Power Rankings

Listen, I get it. Jon Rahm still scares me every time I put him in a power ranking or a fantasy lineup. I love the guy’s game, but I can’t shake the feeling that he’s a three-time TOUR winner who should have seven or eight by now.

That being said, there’s no reason that I can justify to keep him outside of the top ten in this week’s rankings at the NORTHERN TRUST. He’s finished in the top ten in five of his last eight worldwide starts dating back to the Masters, with a victory at Lahinch in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open showing that he’s at or near peak form heading into the stretch run of the PGA TOUR season.

Statistically, Rahm is ranked fourth on TOUR in strokes gained off the tee, and he’s hitting just over 62 percent of his fairways in regulation. By comparison, his approach game is lagging a bit behind, but by no means is he hacking it up out there. Whatever might be a problem, though, is made up for by his strong overall putting game, particularly from mid range. Rahm ranks 32nd in overall putting average, and 40th in strokes gained on the greens.

If Rahm is on top of his game heading into Liberty National, he’ll be a strong contender this week, and for the rest of the Playoffs.
