Justin Thomas is trending in the right direction. When I talked about hunger and players’ desire to be here in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, JT is one that comes to mind.

A wrist injury has limited him to 17 events this year and no wins. He’s won every year as a pro including five times in 2017.

The injury caused him to miss the PGA Championship and led to a missed cut at the U.S. Open.

He followed it up with a T-36 at the Travelers Championship and has since posted four straight top-20s.

That includes a T-11 at the Open Championship, T-12 at the WGC in Memphis and T-12 last week at the Northern Trust.

Thomas fired 67-68-71-68 and struck the ball very well. He averaged 66.07% fairways and 76.39% greens in regulation. The putter gave away -.317 strokes a round.

He’s up to second on Tour in strokes gained approach and tee to green. It’s been a tough season around the greens as he’s 160th in strokes gained putting.

Thomas is first in birdie average, though it remains to be seen how much the PGA Tour will #LiveUnderPar with the course set up.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide star has won just about everything in golf except for a playoff event. Pair that with the fact that he’d likely move up to No. 1 with a win and I think he’ll be plenty motivated to break through this week at the BMW Championship.
