Jon Rahm is a ticking time bomb on the PGA Tour. No, not for one of his outbursts on the course, but to win in bunches. This week at the BMW Championship sets up well for him to do just that.

The Spaniard won this summer at the European Tour’s Irish Open. That was sandwiched by five top-11 finishes.

Two of those five were in majors, one was a WGC and another a playoff event.

Suffice it to say, Rahm is rolling well. Yet, he’s seeking his first PGA Tour win since the Careerbuilder Challenge in January 2018. He did win another European Tour event, as well as the Hero World Challenge, in the interim.

One of Rahm’s best shots came last week. He finished T-3 (64-68-69-69) at the Northern Trust and held the lead on the back nine.

He was a little frustrated in his post-round presser about his work on the greens. Rahm actually gained .802 strokes on the greens Sunday but was just .221 for the week.

He hit 71.43% fairways and 76.39% greens in regulation.

"“Today is probably the best I hit with my irons and couldn’t capitalize,” Rahm said. “Couldn’t get the pars done and maybe that’s what I need to refine. Every missed shot cannot cost me a bogey, and that’s one thing to focus on. I have some confidence and have had a pretty good run of golf so far. A lot of Top-10s and top 5s but again I compete to win and it’s frustrating to get myself in contention and not get it done. Hopefully in two weeks I get it done. If I had to choose, I pick two weeks from now.”"

For the 2018-19 season, Rahm ranks ninth on Tour in SG tee to green and is a positive in all categories. He’s second off the tee and will benefit from his length this week.

Rahm is sixth in birdie average. Most of his proximity stats aren’t too eye-popping, but he is first from 200-225 yards. That could be useful in reaching the four par-5s.
