It was almost too perfect that Patrick Reed’s winless drought came to a close under the watchful eye of Lady Liberty.

Captain America beat the field last week at the Northern Trust at Liberty National, firing 66-66-67-69 to win by one over Abraham Ancer.

When firing, Reed can look dominant in all facets as he did this week. He averaged 301.6 yards per drive, hit 78.57% fairways, 70.83% greens in regulation and gained .792 strokes per round on the greens.

Reed carries both a PGA Tour and European Tour card. He plays A LOT of golf during the year.

It was interesting to hear what he thought fueled him to his first victory since the 2018 Masters.

"“Biggest thing was stay patient, felt like I was doing a lot of things well this year,” Reed said. “Just needed to tweak little things here and there. I decided after Bethpage to shut it down for three weeks and recover and actually take a break. I don’t usually take breaks. That might have been the best thing for me. Once that happened, I regrouped on what I needed to do and I built my confidence up and here we are, holding the trophy.”"

Reed’s win was a culmination of some strong showings leading in. The Texan is up to eight top-32s in a row, including T-5 in Detroit and solo 10th at the Open Championship.

Reed is in the positive in all strokes gained statistics including ninth around the green.

He was not on the 2012 Ryder Cup team. In hindsight I’m sure he would’ve stood up to the pressure of the back nine on Sunday better than some of his compatriots.
