Dark Horse Picks

We round out the picks by finishing with the long shots. The Sleepers. The Dark Horses. Call them what you want, but these are the golfers who would surprise you a bit if you saw them on the leaderboard come Sunday at the BMW Championship.

They might not be unknowns, and you might be surprised at first to see some of them on this list. At this point in the season, with only 70 golfers left, we are down to a strong field, and someone has to be down the list of those most likely to win. Without further adieu, here is the final Pro Golf Now picks for this week.

Francesco Molinari – 66/1

Bill Felber – Francesco Molinari – I’ll take Francesco Molinari. He needs it. If I had a second pick, it would be Jordan Spieth, for the same reason.

Ian Poulter – 66/1

Kasey Kuhrts – Ian Poulter – I like Ian Poulter this week. Besides The Open, Poulter has played very well in July and August on the PGA and European tour. He’s coming off two top 10 finishes in the last two PGA Tour events he has played, plus he is very familiar with this course.

Let’s remember Medinah Course No. 3 was the location of the 2012 Ryder Cup, where Poulter was 4-0-0 in his matches and didn’t lose a point for the European team. Poulter also doesn’t yet have a spot in the Tour Championship next week, so that could give him some extra motivation this week. All of those things considered, I like Poulter’s chances this week at the BMW.

Harold Varner III – 125/1

Matt Coles – Harold Varner III – Going to take a punt on HV3!

Next. Patrick Reed: Back on top with victory at THE NORTHERN TRUST. dark

Best of luck to our staff, and all those playing this week at the BMW Championship!
