FedEx Cup: Movers and shakers after The Northern Trust
Chez Reavie
The 37-year-old won the for the first time in more than a decade this season, which has coincided with his highest ever ranking in the FedEx Cup rankings. Reavie entered the Northern Trust ranked 14th on the FedEx points list and secured to at least advance to the BMW championship.
But the straight hitting Wichita native is playing for more than just money. Reavie, who has never participated in either a Ryder Cup or President’s Cup, is looking to make his international team debut this year at Royal Melbourne.
Reavie ranked 13th on the U.S. President’s Cup points list heading into Liberty National. If Woods was to select his captain’s picks primarily on points, Reavie would have been the final member of the team considering Woods himself occupied the 12th slot and is unlikely to play.
However, Reavie finished T38 a the Northern Trust and has dropped to 14th on the President’s Cup list, still within the realm of a captain’s pick, but with perennial American all-stars looming behind him, he will have to advance further up the rankings.
The BMW Championship is the last event of the season that is considered for President’s Cup points. As such, Reavie’s last chance to help his case will come this week at Medinah.
