Dark Horse Candidates to win FedEx Cup and Tour Championship
Paul Casey – 80/1 – Starts at -2
Paul Casey is striking the ball like very few 40+ year-olds can do.
Right off the bat, it surprised me how well he is playing both off of the tee and on approach shots. He ranks 9th in both, which is an incredible feat. You would think him to be lower off of the tee, as most of the guys who are at the top of that list are younger by quite a bit.
He gains 1.322 SG from just those two areas, which would be good enough for the 12th best SG total. Which means he is quite good in those two areas.
It has translated to a good amount of success this year as well. Six top tens, 14 top 25’s, a win, a second, third, fourth, and fifth-place finish this year all populate his leaderboard on the year.
Casey will be looking to improve on a strong finish from last year’s Tour Championship, where he finished T-11th. That was his worst finish in a few years, as Casey has played East Lake quite well. In 2017 he finished 5th, then 4th in 2016, T-5th in 2015, and didn’t play it in previously until 2010 where he finished T-4th.
Casey play’s incredibly well here, and it makes me quite excited for how he is going to finish the FedEx Cup playoffs this year. Which makes Paul Casey and his odds Reason 414 my wife is happy gambling is illegal in Washington.
