Argentinian Andres Romero holds the lead at the 2019 Omega European Masters, as he sits at -14 after three rounds at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club.

Andres Romero shot a four-under-par round of 66 around the hills of Switzerland on Saturday at the Omega European Masters, backing up his 61 from Friday, which was the low score of the week.

He had to recover from dropping three shots in his first five holes, but came flying back to the top of the leaderboard thanks to a run of an eagle and three birdies in four straight holes.

The lead is one, with Australian Wade Ormsby sitting at -13, after a third round score of 67 on Saturday, but he bogeyed the last to fall away from a tie for the overnight lead.

Gavin Green, the leader at the halfway point, sits two shots back, after only managing a one-under-par round of 69. He is in a tie for third alongside England’s Tommy Fleetwood, who recovered from dropping three shots in his first six holes to shoot a 68 on Saturday.

Finland’s Kalle Samooja made the big move up the scoreboard on the third day, carding a 62 to sit alongside Rory McIlroy, Lorenzo Gagli and Christiaan Bezuidenhout at -11, in a tie for 5th place.

Four men also sit at -10, four shots back from the Argentinian leader. They including Italian Renato Paratore, who had this moment of magic during his third round.

Thursday’s overnight leader, Matthias Schwab, is alongside the Italian in a tie for 9th, with Sergio Garcia, and Sebastian Soderberg also in that group.

Last week’s Scandinavian Invitation champion, Erik van Rooyen, is amongst the group at -8, six shots back, alongside 55-year-old Miguel Angel Jimenez.

Englishman Lee Westwood carded a 64 on Saturday to move up to -7, and sit just outside the top 20 in Switzerland.

Meanwhile, it was a bad day for two-time reigning champion Matt Fitzpatrick, whose grip on the Omega European Masters crown is well and truly gone. The Englishman carded a third-round 73 to drop to +1 for the tournament, 15 shots back from the lead.

Fitz will be in the third group out on Sunday morning, as Stuart Manley and Clement Sordet lead the way at 07:35 local time (UTC+2). The trio of Fleetwood, Ormsby and leader Andres Romero will get their final rounds underway at 12:10.

Next. Whistling Straits should be on everyone's bucket list. dark
