Biggest Brat: Sergio Garcia and Bryson DeChambeau (Tie)

This was a brutal choice and I ultimately named co-champions (losers?) for the years’ biggest brat. Sergio Garcia had an incredible streak of childish behavior; as a reminder, he:

  • Went psycho on a bunker in Saudi Arabia and destroyed a green
  • He threw his driver at his caddie at the British Open.
  • The next week in Memphis, the poor tee box did not stand a chance to Sergio’s temper.

After his 2017 Masters victory, we were ready to anoint Garcia a more mature man. He seemed content and his beautiful daughter Azalea seemingly gave him peace. However, with his game going sideways in 2019, Sergio reverted to his old habits. He treated the golf courses, his caddie and his fellow competitors with no respect, and showed he is still an immature brat with a tendency to act like a jackass on the golf course.

Not to be outdone, Bryson DeChambeau stepped up to the plate with his ridiculous incidents. Bryson has built a brand as golfs ‘mad scientist’ but his questionable science is not the only flawed logic. DeChambeau, often criticized for his slow play, was caught on video spending over 2 minutes on a short putt.

His fellow pros roasted him; 2019’s co-biggest brat responded by arguing he is not slow due to his fast walking and blaming caddies. Stevie Williams seems like a jerk but is he the reason you play slowly?

DeChambeau then continued his stupidity by confronting Brooks Koepka and Snapchatted himself during a pro-am round calling everyone haters.

Sergio got off to a hot start in 2019 but Bryson would not be denied, securing a tie for the PGA Tour’s Biggest Brat.
