A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier: Top 10 power rankings
Here’s to hoping 2019-2020 is a quieter season in the headlines for Bryson DeChambeau. Or not. It’s great for content.
The uber-talented young star made waves for his issues with slow play, pseudoscience and questionable comments regarding his participation in a European Tour event in Saudi Arabia. That’s just to name a few.
But, at times, he also played really good golf. The SMU product won on both tours last season (Dubai Desert Classic, Shriners) and was a Matthew Wolff eagle from getting into a playoff at the 3M Open.
DeChambeau’s short game still has room to improve (115th), but that’s one area that seems to get better with age. He was statistically strong in every other strokes gained category: 24th off the tee, 54th approach, 28th putting and 37th tee to green.
He’s also 17th in birdie average.
DeChambeau finished T-24, T-48 and T-7 in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
He’s making his debut at A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier.
The five-time PGA Tour winner is the highest-ranked player in the field and the only inside the top 20.
DeChambeau has left a lot to be desired in the WGCs and majors. But, against weak fields, he tends to feast. I like his chances to show the Korn Ferry Tour grads how it’s done with a well-rounded display on the Old White.
