A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier: Top 10 power rankings
It’s cliche as hell, but it’s ultimately true every week. If Jason Kokrak can make some putts, he’s got a great chance to win.
The big-hitting Canadian continues to learn the hard way that a missed four-footer counts the same as a booming 350-yard tee shot. Kokrak was 11th in strokes gained off the tee and sixth in approach.
Unfortunately for him and his wallet, he’s 165th in SG around the green and 103rd in SG putting.
The Greenbrier’s generous fairways and a potentially soft course fit the bill of what Kokrak’s looking for.
He’s recorded two runner-up finishes in his career, including a T-2 at the 2019 Valspar Championship.
The Xavier product made 22 straight cuts until an MC this summer at the Travelers Championship. Last season, he had six top-10s and has since begun a new cut streak at four.
Kokrak is making his sixth appearance at A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier. He’s made three cuts highlighted by a T-3 in 2018 (65-64-71-67).
"When asked after the 2018 event on why the Old White sets up well for him: “I think I get to hit a lot of irons off the tees. Make a couple of those shots easier. I can reach all the par-5s. You know, well, besides 15, that’s a tough one to get to. But I think the par-3s suit me well too because I hit my long irons pretty far and pretty high, so that helps out."
