The PGA Tour returns this week with A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier. Let’s take a look at the first event of the season from a Fantasy Golf DraftKings perspective!

Before I discuss my Fantasy Golf DraftKings picks for the week, let’s first discuss the course the field will contend with this week as well as the key statistics I will be focusing on for this event.

This event will be played at the Old White TPC golf course in West Virginia. This track is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,292 yards. This track is a classical golf course that offers wide fairways and large green complexes.

It should also be noted that this event is played in the mountains of West Virginia, around 2,000 feet above sea level. Playing 2,000 feet above sea level will assist the golfers that don’t normally hit the ball far with extra distance off the tee. Keep that in mind as you compile your player pools for your Fantasy Golf contests.

The key statistics that I will be focusing on this week are: strokes gained tee to green, scrambling, and GIR (greens in regulation).

Bubba Watson $10,000

I’m leading the way this week for my Fantasy Golf selections with two time Masters champion Bubba Watson. Yes, I know that Watson comes in at a rather hefty Draftking price. Let’s dive into why I feel Watson is worth the stretch at such a high price point.

First of all, Bubba Watson is not the “conventional golfer” on the PGA Tour. What do I mean by this statement? Well, with a more traditional golfer you would weigh current form rather heavily as you determine whether or not you would include that player in your Draftkings player pools.

For me, Bubba is different in that regard. In my opinion, you can just throw out the general rule regarding his recent form coming into this event. Mr. Watson is a golfer that loves specific golf courses and generally pops on those tracks regardless of what his form is at the time.

Let me provide some specifics to support my statement regarding Watson’s success on certain golf courses. Ok. Watson clearly loves Augusta National. Since 2012, Bubba has four top 12 finishes at the Masters, including two wins (2012, 2014).

Another track he loves is Riviera Country Club n California where the Genesis Open is played every year. Since 2014, Watson has five top 15 finishes at this event, including two wins. Clearly, Watson arrives to play golf courses that he loves.

Adam Schenk $7,200

I simply liked the way Schenk finished his 2019 season. Schenk finished his season with three top 24 finishes in his last four events. He finished 6th at the John Deere Classic, 18th at the Barbasol Championship, and 24th at the Northern Trust.

When I reviewed the player statistics for the 2019 John Deere Classic I was impressed when I observed that Schenk finished second in GIR for the event. He hit 81.9% of his greens for the event.

My gut tells me that Schenk comes to play this week. I also like Schenk’s low DraftKings price of $7,200. I think he presents an outstanding upside with a high floor at that price point.

If you are looking for lower-priced players to complete your DraftKings lineups I like the following to make the cut and possibly top 20:

Mackenzie Hughes $7,200

He has two consecutive top 20 finishes at the Greenbrier. Hughes finished 21st at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in June. He followed that up with a 22nd place finish at the Wyndham Championship in August.

Doc Redman $7,000

He finished second at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in June. He followed that up with a 20th place finish at the Open Championship.

Brendon Todd $6,700

Todd finished 25th at the 2019 Barbasol Championship. He also has two previous top-six finishes at the Greenbrier.

Ted Potter Jr. $6,400

He won the Greenbrier in 2012. Potter Jr. also finished sixth at this event in 2013.

As always, good luck this week!
