A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier: Dark Horse Picks
Joel Dahmen – 80/1
Dahmen started making a bit of noise during the middle of the 2019 season, letting the golf world know that the University of Washington product was ready to make his name known.
He had a nice three tournament stretch where he finished T-16th, T-18th, and Second. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t last as he missed the cut in four of his next six events.
It was enough to get him into the top 70 of the FedEx Standings, which got him all the way to the BMW Championship. It wasn’t the only hot section of his career, which is actually the reason I have him as a dark horse.
Near the end of the 2018 season, Dahmen would have a four-tournament stretch where he finished T-5th, T-2nd, T-15th, and T-8th. The first event in that stretch? It was A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier.
He would go 67-65-67-69 that week, and finish two shots back of second place. Kevin Na ran away that year winning the event by five strokes.
Dahmen is looking to improve off the tee and fairway a little, and get back to his 2017 status of being a top 50 player in both. He has shown the ability to play this event, and I like him to make a run at the top of the leaderboard as the weekend progresses.
