Normally a lack of course history is concerning when making tournament picks. In the case of Brandt Snedker, it’s actually a good thing. He hasn’t teed it up at the Country Club of Jackson, host site since 2014, as he was consistently eligible for the simultaneous WGC-HSBC Champions over in China where he’d either play or rest.

Now that the Sanderson Farms Championship is a stand-alone event, this Tennesseean is more inclined to play in an event bordering his home state.

Sneds was winless in the 2018-19 PGA Tour season, but it’s hard to find too many other blemishes. He began with a T-2 last fall at the Safeway Open and proceeded to collect five more top-10s and 12 total top-25s.

He opened the FedEx Cup Playoffs with a T-6 at the Northern Trust and T-5 at the BMW Championship. The 2012 FedEx Cup winner earned his way to the Tour Championship for the first time since 2016.

Some injury woes played a part in that mini drought.

Snedeker likely used his four weeks off since the Tour Championship to work on the driver. He was 147th strokes gained off the tee (-.193) last season. He was solid with every other club, and particularly around the greens.

The 38-year-old by way of Vanderbilt has a reputation as one of the game’s best putters for a reason. He finished 12th in strokes gained putting (.592). He’s been inside the top 30 in that stat every year since 2009.

Snedeker was also third in strokes gained around the green (.48) and a solid 63rd tee to green (.37).
