Matt Wallace

The first main contender on our list is a man that has not yet broken into the highest echelon of the golfing world, but he is well on his way to doing so.

England’s Matt Wallace had a breakout year on the European Tour in 2018, winning three times. The man from Hillingdon secured victories at the Hero Indian Open, BMW International Open and the Made in Denmark Open, winning both the former and latter in a playoff against compatriots.

Thanks to those performances, along with a top 20 finish at the PGA Championship and a second-place finish at the DP World Tour Championship, the European Tour’s grand finale, Wallace finished inside the top ten of the Race To Dubai standings for the 2018 campaign.

He is currently inside the top five of this year’s Race to Dubai leaderboard, behind only Jon Rahm, Bernd Wiesberger and Shane Lowry. That is thanks to a 3rd place finish at the PGA Championship and the same mark at last week’s KLM Open in the Netherlands.

He also secured a top ten finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, and the Englishman will be looking to continue his good 2019 form into this event, and of course, Wallace will have the English crowd behind him at Wentworth this week.

Wallace will play his first two rounds alongside Eddie Pepperell and Tommy Fleetwood in an all-English trio.
