Safeway Open: Top 10 power rankings for Silverado CC
Kevin Na scratched and clawed for his first PGA Tour win in 2011. He then persevered for seven years until he won again in his hometown of Las Vegas in 2018. His third career win at this year’s Charles Schwab Challenge solidified Na as one of the Tour’s top grinders.
Always one of the shorter hitters, Na crafts his schedule well to peak at events that suit him best. This week’s Safeway Open at Silverado particularly fits his skill set.
Na finished solo second here in 2015 (68-71-64-70) losing in a playoff to Emiliano Grillo. He recorded a solo seventh in 2016 (71-66-70-66) and was a poor final round in 2017 (71-70-66-77, T-37) away from a high finish.
Along with his win at Colonial, Na in 2019 had three worldwide top-10s and is coming off a T-14 in his last start two weeks ago at A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier.
The 36-year-old owns an elite short game and was seventh on Tour in 2018-19 in strokes gained around the green (.355). He’s normally a top-50 putter but slipped to 77th (.089). Na was 17th in SG putting at The Greenbrier.
Silverado is filled with bunkers, which could be OK for Na who is accurate off the tee when playing well and is 43rd in sand saves (55.26%).
Na is also inside the top 53 in proximity in all distance ranges between 50-175 yards.
