Adam Scott played his collegiate golf at UNLV. Ironically, this is the Aussie’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open debut. The 39-year-old attributes the PGA Tour’s new schedule as a reason for his decision to commit.

While he’ll have some scout work to do at TPC Summerlin, Scott is familiar with the firm, sandy conditions akin to Australian golf.

The sweet swinger comes into this week in excellent form. He got his 2019-2020 PGA Tour season started with a solid T-17 last week at the Safeway Open, another maiden stop for Scott.

To finish 2018-19, he went 5-T-9-T5 in the FedEx Cup Playoffs to fatten his wallet and finish sixth in the season-long race. He hasn’t won on a Tour since 2016, but he’s still played good golf in the interim.

That’s especially counting the 2019 calendar year where he had two runner-up finishes against tough fields at the Farmers Insurance Open and the Memorial Tournament. Scott was also T-7 at the U.S. Open and T-18 at the Masters.

Statistically, he had no weaknesses last year. He was third in total strokes gained (1.831) and was 43rd or better in the main SG categories. We all know him for his ball striking (4th tee to green, 1.483 SG), but he put together one of his best putting years finishing 31st (.348).

He’s not the most accurate driver but will be afforded better opportunities to score from the rough at this layout.
