Tiger Woods continues to make waves outside the world of golf, with one of the most popular rappers in the world ready to name her next album after the 15-time major winner.

When Tiger Woods won the Masters for the fifth time in April, the world took notice. I’m not just talking about the golf world, though. When Woods pumped his fist in triumph on the 18th green of Augusta National, it was a full-blown crossover moment in pop culture, reminiscent of his 1997 breakout victory.

We all know how deep Tiger’s impact has been on the game, inspiring a new generation of players who are now taking over the pro ranks. We’ve also seen the cultural impact, from the iconic “I am Tiger Woods” Nike campaign, to his influence on the world of music. Music and sports go together perfectly, especially when it comes to hip hop. Which brings us to today’s latest news.

Cardi B, Grammy winner and one of the most popular rappers in the world today, took to Instagram recently and let her 51 million followers know that she’s planning on naming her next album after Woods. This is a pretty informal announcement, but the 26-year-old rapper clearly made a strong connection with the 43-year-old champ’s comeback win.

This isn’t exactly a comeback, considering that her 2018 album Invasion of Privacy went Double Platinum, all 13 of its tracks have been certified gold or higher by the RIAA. It was also the sixth highest-selling album of the year, trailing only Taylor Swift’s reputation, Drake’s Scorpion, Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys, the soundtrack from “The Greatest Showman”, and Ed Sheeran’s Divide. In other words, she’s on top of her game like Tiger was at the Masters.

What motivated Cardi to go with Woods as the title, though? Simple stuff: firing back at the haters (although I’m not sure she has many these days).

"“I’m gonna name my album — I think — Tiger Woods because remember when everybody was talking s–t? On Tiger Woods? Like ‘Oh, blah, blah, blah. Blah, blah, this. Blah, blah, that. And then he f—–g came and won that green jacket? That’s what I’m gonna name my album.”"

There you have it, fans. It sounds like we’ll have to wait until sometime in 2020 before we hear where this one goes, but it looks like one of today’s biggest musical stars will be paying tribute to one of golf’s all-time greats in the very near future.

Maybe we’ll get a cameo from the man himself on the album?

Okay…maybe that’s a little too far. Still, we’ll wait and see how fast Tiger Woods, the album, tops the charts.
